Stuff that DON'T get my sympathy votes

Conversation that goes like this, "I am SO LONELY on weekends when MY HUSBAND has to work. I am all alone at home."

SMS that goes like this, "I am having dinner ALONE coz MY HUSBAND is working late again."

GET A LIFE. Or is she expecting me to say, "I am SO LONELY on weekends coz I have NO HUSBAND who has to work." Or perhaps, she expects an sms from me, saying "I am having dinner ALONE again like every other day coz I have NO HUSBAND who is working late again."

Lets all learn to count our blessings. Whether you are single or attached or married. And to all the married ones out there, be a little sensitive to your single friends. We are ALONE most of the most. Sometimes we are LONELY trust me but hey, we understand that we need to get a life.

Some of us understand, at least :-).

And if any of you married women do go out with us the single girls, please do so because you are DYING to see us, you can't wait to do the girlie things together and NOT because YOUR HUSBAND has to work late that night!!

For the record, I am not a sour grape. Certainly not a fan of anybody's husband. :-p

'Trophies' in various stages of my life

Coloring Exercise @ Kindergarten
We were tasked to color the figure of a dog. Everyone colored it black or brown. Me turned it into a dalmatian. It became a show piece in the billboard at the back of the classroom.

School Exams @ Primary Three
I was the top student not just in class but of the whole cohort. I was given a big storybook which I kept till today.

Chinese Story Telling Competitions @ Primary Four, Five, Six
Not once, not twice, but thrice winner of various Story Telling Competition (English too). Dad wanted to custom make a cupboard to display my medals.

Overall Performance @ Primary Six
I was the Best Performance Student of the year. I had excelled in schoolwork, sports and story telling competitions. The trophy was half my size.

Sports Performance @ College
Represented my college in canoeing and dragonboating. Won a bronze in the nationwide long distance double canoeing school competition. I have never been up so early, trained so hard and put in so much effort for anything till then. I was given the schools' Color Awards for Excellence in Sports.

Tour Guide Course @ 18
I was the youngest and the only one with no travel agency or guiding experience to make it to the Tour Guide Course. I had innocently, truthfully and bravely told the interview panel of 5 old folkies that I LOVE MY COUNTRY.

TV Production @ Work
My TV programme "Change of Heart" was selected for entry to an European Short Film Competition and was played at the Eiffel Tower.

Alamak....no more trophies thereafter?!

Station of Rooster Crows

" Cockcrow Post Town (Ji Ming Yi or Station of Rooster Crows) was recently listed for the second time by the World Monuments Fund in the 2006 World Monuments Watch List of world 100 most endangered sites.

The Ming-period town is located at Huailai County, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. It is the largest postal town of its kind in China, and the prime example of its era.

It was a major post office and an important location for travelers and workers alike to change horses and pass on transport duties between Beijing and western areas of China and beyond.

Cockcrow was constructed in 1420 and although it suffered during the Cultural Revolution, locals managed to preserve a number of aristocratic houses as well as carvings and wall paintings within temples by covering them with mudplaster and newspaper.

The town is still inhabited with temples, schools and a wealth of courtyard houses, all surrounded by a massive rammed-earth-and-masonry town wall. Seven out of 17 remaining original temples are in danger of being lost. "

Dowager Empress Cixi stayed here one night as she fled the invading forces attacking Beijing...
